Chemotherapy
Intravenous chemotherapy at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center allows patients to receive cancer
treatments closer to home. Regardless of where a patient goes to see an
oncologist (doctor specializing in cancer treatment), the oncologist can
refer their patients to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center for chemotherapy treatment. Having treatments
available locally helps cut down on travel time and cost.
In addition to administering chemotherapy treatments, nursing staff also
update the patient's oncologist and call to check on the patient after each
treatment. They provide emotional support, education about side effects and
additional resources that may benefit the patient. Follow-up lab work can be
done at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center as well as CT, MRI and other diagnostic tests.
For more information, contact the chemotherapy department at 507-537-9303.
